These engines were manufactured between late 2002 and mid-2005 in the six-cylinder version of the BA Falcon (and derivative models Fairmont and Fairlane), as well as the SX Territory. For the first time, the Falcon engine was equipped with a DOHC and variable cam timing. It resulted in a significant improvement in performance compared with the 157 kW SOHC Intech engine in the previous generation AU Falcon and a 10 kW improvement over the 172 kW Tickford enhanced VCT engine. Also, Ford's engine power output was higher than that of the Holden Ecotec and Holden L67 supercharged V6 engines found in the Holden VY Commodore.
